Daring to Dream

In June 2002 QPPD published a book, Daring to Dream – Stories of parent advocacy in Queensland, written by Jen Barrkman. The Steering Committee guiding the development of the project were Sally Barone, Michelle O’Flynn, Jenni Pidgeon, Anita Speed and Lynn Walmsley.

Daring to Dream is about the stories of some of the many parents who became involved in Queensland Parents for People with a Disability (QPPD) over its 20 year history. It aims to provide a realistic account of people's stories so that other parents can learn from those who have come before them when taking on advocacy roles. From their stories we can learn about advocacy, the courage required to affect change and the continual ongoing daily struggle to work within often inflexible systems.
